Socio-cultural development
The sociocultural aspect is very important in Tanger Med Foundation's approach. Through numerous artistic and sports programs, the Foundation offers young people the opportunity to develop their talents in various fields. It also contributes to promoting local heritage by organizing events that aim to strengthen social unity and increase interest in the area.
The "Stars of the Strait in Tangier" (Étoiles du Détroit à Tanger) Cultural Center is a lively venue that hosts numerous social and cultural activities throughout the year. The result of close collaboration between Tanger Med Foundation and Ali Zaoua Foundation, the center focuses on an educational, cultural, and social approach. It offers young and old alike the opportunity to learn and improve their skills in various areas, such as academic support, training and support for women, reading, singing and dance workshops, as well as sports activities. These workshops promote local culture and inclusion, while also supporting the development of people living in the neighborhood where the center is located.
Since 2016, Tanger Med Foundation has been participating in the "Clean Beaches" initiative launched by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection. This program aims to raise awareness and educate people about the environment throughout the summer season. The Foundation allocates considerable resources to cleaning, equipping, and organizing activities on this beach. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness among locals and summer visitors, both Moroccan and foreign, about protecting the sea and its surroundings. Among the actions taken to preserve the environment and the coastline, Dalia Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, an international eco-label given to beaches committed to preserving and promoting the coastal environment. This label recognizes the efforts of the Foundation and local communities to maintain the beach at a high level of eco-consciousness in order to establish good ecological practices and preserve this highly dynamic tourist site.
Tanger Med Foundation has received numerous awards at the Lalla Hasnaa Sustainable Coastline Trophy, which recognizes actions to preserve the coastline and oceans. These awards are part of the "Social and Environmental Responsibility of Organizations" category. They reward businesses that have decided to integrate environmental, social, or economic considerations into their activities.
Tanger Med Foundation works to develop community areas within Tanger Med Group's field of activity by supporting local economic actors and associations. A solidarity expo is being organized in the form of a market, bringing together local cooperatives and associations within the port area. It provides passengers transiting through Tanger Med Port with quick and easy access to local products and the region's rich heritage.
Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, in collaboration with the Office of Development and Cooperation (ODCO), and supported by various institutional partners, the Lalla Al Moutaaouina Award aims to encourage projects led by women's cooperatives that promote women's economic empowerment. Tanger Med Foundation fully supports this event by regularly funding several award-winning cooperatives.
